Fish and chips is somewhat of a favourite among Singaporeans but how does it really look and taste in its country of origin? (Not great HAHA but it's interesting anyway.)

Eating out in London is really quite crazy. S$20+ for fish and chips. Scared

Haha that's quite standard in western countries. One more reason to appreciate our hawkers.

Love that statement! With the rising rentals and fewer Singaporeans wanting to work the hawker trade, not sure how long more we can enjoy hawker prices though.

My experience eating fish and chips in Australia is that it's often quite plain but somehow it was still enjoyable because I was usually eating them near a beach or under great weather. Almost like the ambience enhanced the food but London fish and chips shops don't really have that excuse. Big Smile

I totally get what you're saying about the ambience and cool weather overseas but for some reason, I still prefer local hawker-style fish and chips. Big Smile Maybe it's just the taste that I grew up with ba.

Latest episode of HongisBored is fantastic. They really dug up some gems from Kulai, a town in Johor less than an hour's drive from our border. I only knew that because of Google haha but from this video, I think Kulai is worth a visit, especially the cafe.
