Agreed, it is a useful question to ask but definitely have to ask in a smart way, maybe phrase it in a way that implies you can help the company reduce its turnover. Don't phrase it as an accusation or a challenge.  I used to be in hiring and we want to enjoy whatever little power we have during the interview process.
