Actually a lot of cartoons have almost like two layers of humour, one for the children and one for adults. I remember watching The Simpsons as an adult and realising how many jokes that children won't understand.

Wah this joke is really in the grey area. Even if parents complain about the reference, writers can just say it refers to the unwanted plants that grow everywhere.
