omg its been so long since i took my PSLE that i can't even recognise this scoring format. tried googling it but still don't quite understand it fully.
BUT congrats!!  Big Smile Like

AL1 >=90
AL2 85-89
AL3 80-84
AL4 75-79
AL5 65-74
AL6 45-64
AL7 20-44
AL8 <20

so looking at this... example u scored above 90 for all 4 subjects...tats a cumulative of AL4.
in the past, 75-89 is considered an A. so with this new AL scoring, AL4 is A. so lets say all 4 subjects u score 75. Thats a cumulative score of AL16.
make sense to u?

@jenzz, yup the new scoring system just came into play this year. It's supposed to make PSLE scores less finely differentiated because under the old system, parents and students would worry about single-point differences like 251 vs 252 because that could make a huge difference whether the student could get into a particular school. It's an interesting move from MOE for sure.

interesting...my kids are too old for me to worry about PSLE now but i wonder what kind of long term effects the new scoring system will have.

although this article says more than 80% of PSLE students got into their top three choices, tt also means theres still a lot of students who didn't get into their top choices. maybe because the new scoring system still haven't convince parents yet and they are still trying their luck with the top top sec schs...?

Haha I think it's still worth a try for many parents to get their kids into the elite schools. Even with the new scoring system, doesn't mean all our secondary schools are suddenly equally prestigious. Big Smile
