Omg I remember my dad and uncle checking this when I was a kid! Looking at the pic you posted, looks like it actually ended service somewhat recently despite being replaced by the Internet in the early 00s.

Never knew Irene Ang and Gurmit Singh from the same CCA group from the same secondary school! What are the chances?

Always liked Frankie Foo's character because he and PCK were always funny together. I'm ashamed to say I never realised he was played by acting legend Lim Kay Siu.

And Pierre Png still looks good. Smile

That was cool. Can see how much they enjoyed working on the show.

I remember when there was a big hoohah over the use of Singlish on this show. Glad they discussed it. Never knew Gurmit Singh was so worried he was targeted by the government that he was prepared to leave Singapore.

Yah that was a very interesting point. I wonder if local entertainers these days are also worried about having to leave the country.

Wouldn't be surprised if the local entertainers have been conditioned or have become wise enough to know that they can enjoy all the perks (fame, steady income, social standing) associated with being entertainers as long as they don't push the envelope too hard. So...self-censorship in a way.

For some reason, I'm reminded of the old Marina South with all its steamboat restaurants. It was only $10 per person, the food quality wasn't very good, and I always ended up hot and sweaty after eating, but good memories. Smile
