Yes. I think being monitored at home is way out of line for any employer. Seems like something Amazon would do to their factory workers, e.g. monitoring their every move and even restricting their bathroom break time to maximise productivity.

Actually...the wfh period has shown that companies can still run with most of their employees working remotely...so why can't they continue doing it?

For management-related reasons mostly. Like you guys have discussed earlier, monitoring employees is a factor. And being able to meet each other is also vital to building teamwork and all that stuff, which is also beneficial to management.

Some of my colleagues raised concerns about returning to the office a couple of months ago so it seems like my company is going to slowly bring people back to office instead of 100% at one go. If enough employees make noise, management will listen.

The workload has already increased so the longer hours may very well carry over into the new year.
