Yeah the food quality really wasn't good at all, especially compared to the standard of steamboat or hot pot we get nowadays. And since most people visited those Marina South steamboat restaurants for dinner, the seafood was probably not very fresh either...

Weird, I remember these things being much bigger in my childhood. Either they reduced in size or it's simply because everything felt bigger when you're a small kid.
Here's another favourite snack of my childhood. Before chocopie, we had Hiro chocolate cake! I remember buying one in my primary school canteen if I had some pocket money left over at the end of every week.
