Latest episode of HongisBored is fantastic. They really dug up some gems from Kulai, a town in Johor less than an hour's drive from our border. I only knew that because of Google haha but from this video, I think Kulai is worth a visit, especially the cafe.

That encounter with the chinese herbs expert was great.  Love love love the rustic no-signboard cafe too.

I totally get what you're saying about the ambience and cool weather overseas but for some reason, I still prefer local hawker-style fish and chips.  Maybe it's just the taste that I grew up with ba.

Hahah you make me wanna get fish and chips from a western stall now. Haven't eaten that style of fish and chips in a while.

Yeah I think so too. They are quite strict with their high recommendations so I think it's quite legit.

My experience eating fish and chips in Australia is that it's often quite plain but somehow it was still enjoyable because I was usually eating them near a beach or under great weather.

Agreed, fish and chips in nice Australian weather of sun and cold breeze is a favourite memory of mine.

Can tell the owner is passionate about everything he does too. I think I'll drop by the cafe in the near future!

Not bad leh, they managed to find so many interesting things in Kulai. From what I remember about visiting my cousins there, it's otherwise quite a regular Johor town. Hope their channel continues to grow.

I think will definitely continue to grow since they put out such good content that resonates with Singaporean viewers. Just a matter of whether they can grow fast enough to sustain their interest and maybe budget, I guess.

It's a convenient and affordable place to have lunch with work colleagues from different races too. A similar kind of restaurant used to be a common lunch spot for us at my previous workplace.

Nothing fancy but good no-frills food. I'm thankful that Malaysia is just nearby.
